The book’s title includes ”or, The Whale”. It’s about all sorts of whales and the ways countries around the world hunt them and the uses made of them. It’s also about the crew members’ various languages, tribes, histories and reasons for risking their lives: some escaping, others supporting families, at least one (not Ahab) suicidal. So I’d say it’s about humans as much as whales, and I loved it. Fantastic reading, including range of accents and keeping sense clear in long, long sentences.

Thanks to the reader. Wonderful job. I have to say I don't understand why this book is considered so great. The beginning and the end are the actual story/novel. The middle is sidetracked ramblings about whales and whaling. I'm glad to have finally studied this book, but I can't say I'd recommend it.
